Weight gain in pets can cause serious problems such as diabetes, arthritis, loss of movement in limbs, heart issues, and if serious enough, death. We will body score your pets each visit to ensure they are maintaining their ideal weight. Standing over your pet you should be able to feel the ribs (not see them) and also see a waist (like an hour glass). There is an awesome prescription diet made by Science Diet called R/D. Your veterinarian will discuss with you whether your pets need R/D and exactly how much to feed. If you follow the instructions your veterinarian gives you, your pet WILL lose weight. This is a challege to the entire family to communicate and know who fed and at what time.
